The Ox Ultra is a new event for Runfurther, and was run for the first time in 2014.  It’s in South Wiltshire, actually quite a long way from the Marlborough race a couple of weeks earlier.

The race takes in some of the most spectacular scenery in Southern England, exploring the Rushmore Estate, Cranborne Chase and the Chalke Valley.  The route is hilly and quite demanding, but to keep you going there are aid stations every 5 miles well stocked with food, savoury and sweet, water melon, gels, water, flat coke and a drop of cider if you fancy that.
The course has one small switch back of 50 metres or so, so you go through an aid station twice and avoid running over a main road.
Camping is available onsite at a reasonable rate for the weekend, as is food in a nearby Golf Club, there are showers and toilets onsite …and a bar.  There is a list of alternative accommodation locally on the race website.
Ultra runners are rewarded with a technical t-shirt and specially minted Ox Ultra medal.
