The Fellsman – leaderboard update

The Fellsman is done for another year. Next year will be the 60th, and it’s on the 27th April. I’ll be putting that in my calendar and entering as soon as entries open – the Fellsman is probably my favourite event, and I don’t want to risk missing an important anniversary.

The leaderboard has been updated, please see the results page to see where this year’s competition now stands.

My write up of the weekend is here. A few mistakes cost me a few hours this year, but I was happy to get another completion (and to hear the dawn chorus as I came down into Grassington).

Calderdale Hike & Haworth Hobble

Apologies for the lack of an update about the Hobble. I intended to publish my blog post since Karen wasn’t around to give us her version, but was very busy at work and didn’t get it finished. More on the Hobble later, but in the meantime here’s a link to Nick’s very snowy pictures.

The results did get updated though, so at present the leaderboard represents the state of play after the HH. We’re working on the results from the Calderdale Hike – as per last year the results needed some curation before we can use them to update the leaderboard.

We do have Karen’s write up though, which is below the line, and Nick’s photos

The Pendle Way in a Day 2023

…and we’re off! The first event of the year took place this weekend. The Pendle Way in a Day had a last minute change of venue to Barley village hall. Last minute changes seemed to make no difference to the organisation of the event which went as smoothly as it always does. The weather was thoroughly kind to some of us, turning increasingly nasty after about five thirty.

Gathering cloud on the summit around 5pm

Many Runfurther members were there, with Rory taking first place (and the course record) and ultra first timer Kat first woman.

Results and leaderboard are here.

Karen’s writeup is below the fold. I’ll add any others (including mine) as they become available.

Looking ahead to 2023

That’s it for the 2022 season, much fun was had and it was good to have a fairly normal season after the disruption of the last couple of years.

For 2023 we have a couple of new races: Stanza Stones in West Yorkshire, and The Chalkland Way Ultra in North Yorkshire.

As always we’re grateful to our sponsors for their support in 2022. Sadly Icebug will no longer be sponsoring us in 2023. Many thanks to them for their past support, we know that the recipients of prizes have been really pleased with them.

For 2023 we’re very excited to have Moonlight Mountain Gear as a sponsor. Torch nerd that I am, I’ve had a really good dig into the designs & specs of their kit and they look really well designed.

I’ll finish by thanking our other generous sponsors: Romneys, Mountain Fuel, Tent Meals, Injinji and Ultimate Direction, who are continuing to support us into 2023.

Yorkshire Trod and the final leaderboard of the year

…and that’s the end of the races for the year. Karen’s writeup of the Yorkshire Trod is below.

The final results leaderboard can be found on the 2022 Results page. Congratulations and thanks to everyone who has taken part this year, and thank you to our sponsors who make it possible for us to run the series.

Don’t forget the AGM at Goyt Valley on the 20th November, hope to see you then!
